My hands trembled. My heart screamed. I went.

He was there. Older, a little taller, but the same smile. He held out a book—my favorite, marked with all his notes. We didn’t speak at first. We just sat, breathing in the moment that time had paused for us.

Then he said it. “I never stopped loving you. Even when you disappeared, I held onto the invisible thread you tied to my heart.”

We’re married now. Our wedding was under that same tree. He still reads me poetry on Sundays, and I still wear oversized sweaters—but now, I don’t hide behind them. Because he made me believe I was worth loving.
