The Mirror Doesn’t Reflect Me Anymore
A psychological horror story about a haunted mirror, lost identity, and the slow unraveling of a woman’s sanity.
Chapter One: The Crack
It started with a tiny crack in the top corner of my bedroom mirror. I barely noticed it. Glass breaks, mirrors age. But that mirror had always been there… and I had always been in it. Until the morning my reflection blinked—before I did.
Chapter Two: Not Quite Me
I stared longer. My reflection mimicked me, yet something was off. Her smile was strained. Her eyes, unblinking and too wide. And once, when I turned my head quickly, I swear—she kept looking.
“You’re sleep-deprived,” Jess, my roommate, chuckled. “You’re watching too many horror stories.”
Chapter Three: Things Get Worse
That night, I heard whispers. Low, muffled sounds—like they came from behind the mirror. I draped a blanket over it. But by morning, the cloth was gone. The mirror? Spotless. Gleaming. Almost… hungry.
Chapter Four: Reflections Out of Sync
Then, it happened. My reflection vanished.
I stood before the glass and saw only the room. The dresser. The lamp. But not me. Jess recorded it—her phone showed everything, except my body. “It’s a glitch,” she muttered, pale and trembling.
Chapter Five: Who’s in the Mirror?
That night, I dreamed—or didn’t. I was trapped inside the mirror, staring outward. On my bed lay another woman—my twin, but wrong. She turned, met my gaze, and whispered: “You took too long to see.”
I jolted awake. Jess was gone. Her side of the room untouched. On the mirror, in fogged letters, it read: “She belongs here now.”
Chapter Six: Gone
I tried smashing it. Hammer. Chair. Nothing cracked the surface. My hands bled, but the mirror remained… perfect. Like it was mocking me.
I no longer leave the room. I’m not sure who’s out there—wearing my face. Jess? No one remembers her. Not her parents. Not even on social media. It’s like she never existed.
Final Entry
If you’re reading this—please. Never look directly into your mirror in the dark. Especially alone. Mirrors don’t lie… but sometimes, they choose not to reflect the truth.
And if your reflection disappears—run. Because by then, something else has already taken your place.
